I have looked everywhere trying to find the location of this sensor without any luck. The clerk at the auto parts store also tried to look online to see what he could find without any luck.

The transmission range sensor is located inside the transmission which is internally housed inside the TCM (transmission control module) which is inside the transmission. Here are the wiring diagrams so you can see how the system works and how to change out the TCM. Check out the images (below). His (independent) diagnosis was: a) Battery - yes, could do with changing but the specific code meant there was a problem with the transmission. b) Brake pedal switch - again, brings out different codes - not this one. c) The best option was to change the oil in the gearbox - not guaranteed to succeed but worth a try.
